Rob was born in Chilliwack, B.C. in 1953. Being an "army brat" he and his family moved several times and lived in such places as Ottawa, Kingston, Whitehorse, New Westminster and Chilliwack again. He attended Sardis Secondary until 1968 when he moved to London, Ontario where he finished high school.

Rob attended the University of Western Ontario, graduating with a B.A., majoring in economics, in 1974. After graduation, he worked for a year in the Finance Department of the City of London. He returned to university, attending the University of Windsor, and graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1976.

After articling with Coopers & Lybrand in London, Ontario, Rob qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1979. He relocated to Chilliwack later that year and worked with McKnight, Johnson & Partners until late 1982 when, together with Ron Goldfinch and Chad Northcott, they started the firm.

Rob is currently a member of both the British Columbia and Ontario Institutes of Chartered Professional Accountants.

Rob was President of the Chilliwack Fraser Rotary Club in 2000/2001, and has been a member of the Club since it's inception in 1982. He has served four terms as Treasurer.

From February 2002 until June, 2009, Rob was privileged to serve as the Chair of the Board of Governors of the University of the Fraser Valley.

He has been a sessional instructor in finance at UCFV as well. He was involved for many years in coaching minor hockey and baseball, as well as being involved in various community organizations.

Rob is married to Orla and together they enjoy nothing more than spending time with their grand daughter Kala.

Rob's personal interests include sports, music, photography and travel.
